External wall insulation being installed on a UK home

Our Services

External Wall Insulation

Wrap your home in high-performance insulation, dramatically improving thermal efficiency and giving your property a clean, modern finish.

Overview

What Is External Wall Insulation?

External wall insulation (EWI) involves fixing insulation boards to the outside of your home and finishing with a weatherproof render or cladding. It is the most effective solution for solid-wall homes and delivers some of the greatest thermal improvements of any single measure.

Our INCA-accredited team installs EWI systems to full BBA certification requirements, including correct detailing around windows, doors, and eaves. The result is a draught-free, thermally high-performing external envelope that will last for decades.

EWI also protects your masonry from weathering, can eliminate damp penetration issues, and gives your property a fresh, contemporary appearance. We work with leading EWI system manufacturers to ensure the right specification for every property.

Common Questions

FAQs

Does EWI require planning permission?

In most cases no, but properties in conservation areas or listed buildings may require consent. We advise you during the survey stage.

How thick does the insulation board need to be?

Typically 90–150mm depending on the target U-value and wall construction. Our surveyors will specify the correct thickness for your property.

Will it cause any damp problems?

No. Properly installed EWI actually reduces damp problems by preventing cold bridging and keeping the wall structure warmer and drier.
