Floor Insulation
Eliminate cold floors and draughts from below — floor insulation delivers a noticeably warmer, more comfortable home.
Overview
What Is Floor Insulation?
Heat loss through uninsulated floors can account for up to 10% of a home's total heat loss. For suspended timber floors, draughts can significantly increase this figure. Floor insulation eliminates cold air ingress and heat conduction through the floor structure.
For suspended timber floors, we install rigid insulation boards between joists from below (where accessible) or by lifting and replacing floorboards from above. For solid floors, we install thermal underlay or rigid insulation beneath a new floor finish.
Our installations are carried out with minimal disruption and include draughtproofing of any gaps around pipes and perimeter edges for maximum performance.

Common Questions
FAQs
Do the floorboards need to come up?
For suspended timber floors, we can usually access from below via a sub-floor void. Where that's not possible, we lift and relay boards carefully.
Can floor insulation be installed with underfloor heating?
Yes. Insulating beneath an underfloor heating system actually improves its efficiency by directing heat upward.
Will installation damage my floorboards?
We take care to protect and reinstate all existing floorboards. Any boards that cannot be relaid are replaced to match.
